i decided to go to Dataran Merdeka or ‘Independence Square’ for this year’s merdeka (independence) day. the last time i went to see the march… when i was in primary school. that’ll be like 20 years ago.
i always wanted to see the merdeka march since i turn adult. this is the age where independence really meant something to me. it is now more than just waving the flag while watching those troopers marching and passing by your eyes. when charming was around, he hated it. not because he was less patriotic, but he just hate the huge crowd so much.
this year, i’m not gonna spend time alone or ‘boringly’ staying at my mom’s house and watch tv with her and my brother. this year i’m going outside, below the sun and face the crowd! 🙂
it was 0800HRS in the morning when i reached masjid jamek LRT station. wawa, my good friend and eben her officemate was already there. so once again, i was being ‘the late princess’ – as what charming called it. from the LRT station, we walked together to Dataran Merdeka which roughly took about 5-10mins, minus the camwhoring session all the way! haha 😀
people from all walks of life were spreading all over the road. it was already packed, plus the noise that came from the small trumpet they were selling for RM10. the noise and the crowded place – this what charming hates! hehe 🙂
while walking to the merdeka square, these kids really caught my eyes with their malaysia flag costumes:
very patriotic i can say!! ❤ two thumbs up!
the merdeka march started at 9am. me and my friends watched the march and waited up to 10:30am before we left for breakfast. too bad we missed the sukhoi jet show!! we were having breakfast together at one kopitiam near the masjid jamek LRT station when i heard some loud noise of turbine engines. i knew it was no ordinary plane! the sounds was like thunder..!! it was superb!! that made myself quickly moved my ass off the chair and ran outside the kopitiam to look at what type of plane had just passed by. but no luck, they’re gone! i at last came to know about it when i bought the newspaper on the next day. it was sukhoi. SUKHOI JET FIGHTER. ourghh man…!! i just missed it!! seems like i have to wait LIMA Langkawi in the next couple of years then~
here are some of the shots i can share with you… flags were everywhere!!
last but not least, i have to give credit to my friend, ms. hals for snapping this picture:
happy 56TH birthday, malaysia! tanah tumpahnya darahku!
